EYFS: Willow Nursery (February '23)
We have been learning all about the sun, the moon and space. Our outside area had a space station land and we have loved being aliens and astronauts in our role play. We have created large sun and moon prints using paint and printers and paper. In our tuft tray we had a moon surface and space shuttles land, we have enjoyed practising pouring and empting with the space shuttles and rice and beans. We have been practising comparing sizes, using the vocabulary big, bigger, biggest and small, smaller, smallest. We have learnt about each other’s morning and night time routines and made toast in nursery as lots of us said that we have toast for breakfast at home. We practised spreading our toppings and cutting the toast with our knives. We loved celebrating number day, wearing our costumes and talking about all the places that we see numbers.
Maple Class - Reception (February '23)
As part of the ‘Starry Night’ topic, the Reception classes have been learning about bedtime routines. This week we have been learning about how to look after our teeth.
Chestnut Class - Reception (February '23)
Reception had lots of fun on Number day. We dressed up as numbers, wearing numbers or as number related objects. We took part in lots of number related activities such as bingo, board games and dominoes. We went into the hall to play number splat, counted how many times we could do an activity (star jumps, bench jumps, running around a course etc). We had to stand on a bench holding a numeral and get ourselves into the correct order without falling off.
EYFS: Willow, Maple and Chestnut
Chinese New Year celebrations
As part of their learning about Lunar New Year/Chinese New Year celebrations, the children in Reception have been learning about Lion and Dragon dances.
The children all made lion masks and were taught a ten step lion dance.
In groups, they performed their Lion Dance to rest of the cohort (and the video clips were posted on Tapestry for families to watch at home).
The children learnt about the differences between Lion and Dragon dances and enjoyed listening to some traditional Chinese music and instruments.
The children enjoyed taking part in Dragon dances too.
The children enjoyed dressing up as characters from favourite children's songs and rhymes.
They performed a number of songs and rhymes to their families too.
EYFS - Willow/Maple/Chestnut (September 2022)
In the Early Years we have all arrived in school now and are enjoying exploring our environment and learning how school works. We have new things in our outside environment to explore soon!
The returning Nursery children came back happily into school after the summer holiday and have been joined by some new friends. They have been enjoying lots of stories and songs and playing outside together.
The children in the new Reception classes have also settled quickly and are now staying for the whole day. They have been getting to know their new friends and learning about the school community. They have enjoyed making ‘Mini Me’ versions of themselves.
