Oak Class is our Speech and Language Class and has children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2.
The adults who work with us are: Mrs Wilson, Mrs Costin, Mrs Leddra, Mrs Gallagher, Mrs Blackshaw, Mrs Leddra and Mrs Simpson.
The speech and language class is an integral part of our school. It caters for children from the West Herts area within the normal range of ability but who have a specific need to develop speech and language skills. There are ten places in the class.
The aim is to provide the specialist education, including speech and language therapy, and specialized environment needed by each child in order to enable them to return to local mainstream schools as soon as possible. All the children integrate regularly within the school for play, dinner, assemblies, music and drama. When able and where appropriate, they also integrate for literacy, numeracy, science and the foundation subjects. Children from the mainstream integrate into Oak class for some curriculum subjects, such as art
We are fortunate to have this facility on site as it offers us all an opportunity to use and learn from the expertise available in developing the speech and language capabilities of all our children.
